NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — A 16-year-old girl is dead after being hit by a car in North Ridgeville early Monday evening.

Police say the teen was struck on Lorain Road near McDonald's around 6 p.m. Paramedics administered first aid and the girl was eventually taken to University Hospitals St. John Medical Center in Westlake, but she died there from her injuries.

In a letter to parents and staff obtained by 3News, North Ridgeville City Schools confirmed that the girl was a junior at North Ridgeville High School who also attended the Lorain County Joint Vocational School.
