LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — A man accused of beating and violently throwing a 10-month-old boy in a Lincoln home has taken a plea deal.
On Monday, 22-year-old Joseph Liebers pleaded no contest to one count of felony intentional child abuse resulting in no injury.
In exchange, prosecutors lowered the original charge of felony child abuse resulting in serious injury, a Class 2 felony.
Liebers is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 17.
On July 18, Lincoln police officers were called to the area of North 59th Street and Cleveland Avenue after a 20-year-old woman reported several belated assaults.
She told officers she had been staying with Liebers for about two weeks with her 10-month-old son. They had no issues with him during the first week, but police said he became increasingly aggressive towar
