LeBron James spent the past week working out with the G League and used the extra reps to speed up his recovery. By Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers officially brought him back from the NBA G League South Bay.
Then on Monday, for the first time this season, James fully participated in practice with the Lakers. Afterward, he spoke openly about how he views his place on the team once he is fully back. James explained that his position on the floor has never defined him.
“It don’t matter. I’m a ball player. The best thing about me and the way I’ve built my game over my whole life and my coaches in Little League, I’ve never had a position,” he said.
James later recalled how Erik Spoelstra used to emphasize positionless basketball during their time together in Miami.
