SOLON, Ohio -- From pasta and sauce to canned goods and toiletries, Solon students are filling collection boxes this month to help neighbors facing food insecurity while learning daily lessons in kindness.
At Orchard Middle School, World Kindness Day on Nov. 13 expanded into a weeklong celebration.
Students wore blue to promote unity and positivity and completed Kindness Bingo boards, checking off small acts such as holding doors, smiling at classmates and looking out for peers who might need a hand.
The school is also holding a Pasta and Sauce Drive until Nov. 21 to collect pasta and jars of sauce for local families in need.
Pasta and sauce are staples in demand at local food pantries and the emergency assistance center.
Sixth-graders at Orchard say those kindness lessons can show up
