A beloved family dog has been found dead inside a stolen ute after more than a week of desperate pleas from his family.
Arnie, a German Shepherd , was stolen while inside the family's black Toyota Hilux between 1.30am and 5am on Saturday, November 8, from the Brisbane suburb of Wynnum.
Police said they had "worked around the clock" to locate Arnie and the stolen ute , but reports of Arnie sightings from the community across the Brisbane region were found to be unsubstantiated.
A member of the public located the stolen ute parked on Amelia Street in Fortitude Valley at 4pm on November 17.
Police said Arnie was also found deceased inside the vehicle.
Arnie's family offered a $6000 reward and appeared on several TV channels to try to get him back home.
