REGINA — Downtown Regina was Party Central in the province after the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the Grey Cup on Sunday night.
Fans descended onto the "Green Mile" and into the intersection of Albert St. and Victoria Ave. to celebrate the Riders' 25-17 win over the Montreal Alouettes. Delirious fans honked horns and waved Roughriders flags, and broke out into chants of "We're Number One" and sang "We are the champions!"
There was a considerable presence by Regina Police as the Green Mile was cordoned off to allow fans to celebrate. It was mostly a joyous scene but there was one incident where one fan climbed up a pole and had to be coaxed down by police.
It is expected it will continue to be a mob scene at the Albert and Victoria intersection well into the night. It was also a celebrat
