LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - In the past year, Louisville has seen a decrease in violent crime overall, but an increase in violent crime involving youth.
Louisville’s chapter of the League of Women Voters wanted to address that issue as part of their Democracy in Action series and held a public forum Monday night.
The forum featured a metro council member, the director of the Group Violence Intervention Office, the Juvenile Division Chief of the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office and the Executive Administrator of Climate and Culture for JCPS.
“Many of you have asked, ‘Why are we doing this program?’ It’s because we’re concerned,” said Gail Henson, co-president of the chapter.
