AUSTIN, Texas — Austinites are speaking up just days before the Austin City Council takes its final vote on the city's proposed budget. City leaders have been reworking that plan after voters rejected Prop Q , the measure that would have boosted property taxes by about 20% and generated an extra $100 million for city services.
On Monday night, community leaders and Austinites joined Mayor Pro Tem Vanessa Fuentes, Council Member Siegel and Council Member José Velásquez to talk about their priorities heading into this budget week.
"I think a lot of people were curious what they learned, how much they were willing to change, what their priorities are now that the election went down," said Robin Rather with Save Our Springs Alliance.
