(WNDU) - Kabelin Ace Hardware, a family-owned hardware store chain that has served the Michiana area for more than a century, has been acquired by Houchens Food Group.
Kabelin Ace Hardware announced the acquisition on social media. The buyer, Houchens Food Group, is based in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and operates as a subsidiary of Houchens Industries Incorporated.
The hardware chain operates eight stores across the region, including locations in South Bend, Walkerton, New Carlisle and Granger. The company also operates two stores each in LaPorte and Michigan City.
The Kabelin stores will continue to operate under the Ace Hardware name following the acquisition. Houchens plans to retain all 150 Kabelin employees.
