For the past several years, St. Elizabeth Shelters and Supportive Housing has received money from the city of Santa Fe's Affordable Housing Trust Fund to subsidize rent costs for people living at Santa Fe Suites.
Awarded yearly, the $250,000 has been keeping 17 people who were formerly homeless housed at the renovated motel complex off South St. Francis Drive. But money from the last fiscal year has run out, and now, more than four months into fiscal year 2026, the city has yet to announce awardees for the current year's trust fund allocation of about $3 million.
Officials at St. Elizabeth Shelters and other organizations that have applied for affordable housing funds say the delay has created significant uncertainty as they seek to continue providing services to Santa Feans in need.
