An Aboriginal corporation in Western Australia's Goldfields says a mobile polling booth at the recent local government elections closed early, preventing people from casting their ballot in a poll decided by just one vote.
The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) facilitated mobile polling booths across the state during October's local council elections.
This included remote communities such as Tjuntjuntjara, which forms part of the Shire of Menzies but is located about 800 kilometres from the Menzies township.
But Paupiyala Tjarutja Aboriginal Corporation (PTAC) chief executive Jon Lark said the ballot box in Tjuntjuntjara was sealed "several" minutes before the advertised closing time and two people who arrived were unable to cast their vote.
