The revered Murajapam–Lakshadweepam festival is scheduled to begin on November 20 at the historic Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Taking place every six years, this 56-day ritual involves uninterrupted chanting of the Vedas and Vishnu Sahasranamam.
The festival, culminating on January 14 with the 'Lakshadeepam' event, features a grand spectacle where the temple is illuminated by one lakh oil lamps. The event draws Vedic scholars from various parts of the country, with the ritualistic 'Jalajapam' running for 48 days at the temple pond.
Security measures have been heightened given the challenges of managing crowds, an issue highlighted by Prince Aditya Varma. Accompanying the spiritual ceremonies, cultural performances will run on the temple grounds till January 10, ina
