Congress MP Imran Masood from Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, on Tuesday, sparked controversy by describing Dr. Umar Mohammad alias Umar-un-Nabi, the alleged mastermind behind the November 10 Delhi car blast, as a "misguided youth".

Interacting with CNN-News18 , Masood commented on the key accused’s self-recorded video, which surfaced early the same day, remarking that “martyrdom is a part of Islam; however, suicide is not. Committing suicide is considered a sin in Islam.”

He added, “Misguided people cannot preach Islam. Those who resort to violence should read the Quran; they would understand that killing innocent people is not Islam. Islam does not teach betrayal of one’s own nation.”
