In advice that is certain to be on the nose for many, Australian academics are advising parents to ask their babies for consent before changing a nappy.
A dripping diaper or a nappy full of nastiness should be no reason for haste when it comes to transparency and full disclosure about a change of your child’s dirty underclothes, according to researchers at the Deakin University.
“At the start of a nappy change, ensure your child knows what is happening,” the report published on The Conversation states.
“Get down to their level and say, ‘You need a nappy change,’ and then pause so they can take this in.”
Take your time, the researchers say.
