Police in Blantyre have launched an investigation into the killing of 33-year-old medical doctor, Dr. Victoria Bobe, who was shot dead in Chigumula on Monday night.

According to a police report that Face of Malawi has seen, armed assailants shot Dr. Bobe in the head after breaking into her home. Investigators are working to establish the type of firearm used and the identities of the attackers.

Preliminary findings indicate that the criminals cut through a section of the wall fence of the house where Dr. Bobe lived with her husband, Yamikani Bobe. The attackers are reported to have stolen computer and two empty bags.

Dr. Bobe was a gynaecologist and a lecturer at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS).

Police say investigations are ongoing.
