Police in Chitipa are hunting for two suspected illegal fuel traders who fled after abandoning 190 litres of petrol and a motorcycle at Puma Filling Station on November 16.
Police spokesperson Sub-Inspector Gladwell Simwaka said officers on night patrol found the men offloading jerrycans of petrol, but they ran away upon noticing the patrol team, leaving behind ten jerrycans and a King Lion motorcycle.
He said investigations are underway to identify the suspects, warning the public: “Anyone found indulging in such unlawful activities will face the full force of the law.”
