Rayagada: Five members of a family were sentenced to imprisonment for life by a court in Odisha’s Rayagada for the murder of a worker of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) ten years ago.

While delivering the verdict in the decade-old case, the court of the District and Sessions Court Judge Satyanarayan Srangi also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each convict. In case of non-payment of fine, each of them will have to undergo an additional one-year imprisonment. ADVERTISEMENT

As per case record, victim K Apla Narayan worked as a labourer with the FCI and lived near Majhighariani Mandap in Budurabalsa Sahi. In 2015, he was attacked in an organised manner by the convicts who harboured longstanding enmity against him. Alpa Narayan died in the attack.
