Joachim Trier’s family drama Sentimental Value , which won the Cannes Grand Prix in May, has come out as the frontrunner in key categories at the nomination stage for the European Film Awards.
The work has been nominated for Best European Film, Best European Director and Best Screenplay while co-stars Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgard have been nominated for Best European Actress and Actor respectively.
Further frontrunners include Oliver Laxe’s Morocco-set drama Sirāt with four nominations, followed by Mascha Schilinski’s debut film Sound of Falling and Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just An Acciden t with three nominations each.
The European Film Academy, which oversees the awards, unveiled nominees for nine key categories on Tuesday in Spain at the Seville European Film Festival
