NEVADA, Iowa —

History is on the line for Nevada High School.

The Cubs punched their first-ever ticket to a 3A state championship game with a commanding 29-10 semifinal win over previously unbeaten Solon, handing the Spartans their only loss of the season.

Head coach Andy Kleeman says this group is peaking at the perfect time.

“This team has made probably the biggest jump I’ve seen in the middle of a season,” he said. “It’s a tremendous group of kids with extremely high character.”

Nevada now sets its sights on No. 4 Bishop Heelan of Sioux City. Kickoff for the 3A title shot is Friday at 1 p.m.
