A path leading to the main groyne at Cottesloe Beach will be closed for the rest of the month ahead of a $120,000 restoration project.

Construction started Monday at Cottesloe’s foreshore to fix-up part of the concrete access path leading to the southern groyne.

Works, estimated to cost $120,000, will include demolishing a portion of the staircase and installing large rocks to help stabilise the area.

The Town of Cottesloe said the area will remain fenced off until the project is completed.

The path, like other parts of the foreshore, is among several areas requiring ongoing maintenance due to gradual wear and erosion.
