DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 19-year-old is dead after an attempted robbery at a gas station in DeKalb County on Monday night, according to police.

Officers were called to a gas station in the 6400 block of Covington Highway on Nov. 17 at around 7:33 p.m. and found the man with a gunshot wound. Police said the victim was identified as Tristyn Mays.

Later, a second man was found shot, police said, in a neighborhood behind the gas station on Cove Lane.

According to police, investigators believe that the 19-year-old tried to rob the second man at the gas station, resulting in the men shooting at each other. The second man ran to the Cove Lane area after the shooting, police said.

The condition of the second man is unknown, but police said no charges will be filed against him.
