TAUNTON, Mass. —

Karen Read, who was acquitted of murder, has filed an explosive lawsuit alleging that others were responsible for the death of her boyfriend and that investigators failed to pursue those leads.

Read was found not guilty of murder this summer after her second high-profile trial in the death of Boston police officer John O'Keefe, her boyfriend, but guilty of a lesser charge of drunken driving. O'Keefe was found dead during a snowstorm on Jan. 29, 2022.

"Now, after being acquitted of all charges relating to Mr. O'Keefe's death, Ms. Read brings this action to recover for and address the actions of those actually involved in Mr. O'Keefe's death and the law enforcement officers who abjectly failed to ensure that justice was sought and served," her lawsuit states .
