QUINCY, Mass. —
A former assistant U.S. attorney who had a leading role in the federal investigation into the handling of the Karen Read case announced Tuesday that he is running for Norfolk County district attorney.
Adam Deitch of Quincy left his position as an assistant U.S. attorney for Massachusetts on Nov. 7 to launch his challenge to current District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
"I left my job as a federal prosecutor because it’s clear there’s a problem in Norfolk County. Victims are not getting the justice they deserve, the public has lost faith in the system, and someone has to do something about it," he said in a written announcement about his campaign.
