BRECKSVILLE, Ohio -- The city has won a $268,940 state grant that will help pay for a sidewalk along Oakes Road, from the entrance of Blossom Hill eastward to Barr Road.
The sidewalk will extend about 1,500 linear feet and fill a sidewalk gap for pupils walking to and from Brecksville-Broadview Heights Elementary School at Blossom Hill.
City Engineer Gerry Wise said the estimated cost of construction is $300,000, so the grant will cover most if not all of the work.
Wise told City Council Oct. 7 that the city plans to seek bids from construction firms in early January and award the contract in February.
Currently, there are sidewalks extending west of the Blossom Hill main entrance to the elementary school entrance and on Glenwood Trail, a south-to-north street that ends at Oakes acros
