Local paramedics and their union are holding a Saturday event in Belleville, and they’re asking for the public’s help in providing food to people in need.
The “Fill Our Wheels with Holiday Meals” food-collection event will be held between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Nov. 22 at Belleville’s Metro store at 110 North Front St. just south of College Street West.

Organized by members of CUPE Local 1842, which represents area paramedics, and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services, it’s an annual event.
The goal is to fill an ambulance with non-perishable food to be distributed in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
“Our paramedics see firsthand how many families in our region struggle during the winter months,” said CUPE Local 1842 paramedic and food drive organizer Samantha deHaan.
