GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) has released the name of the inmate accused of killing a corrections officer Monday at River North Correctional Center.
John Holomon Russell, 32, is accused of attacking Corrections Officer Jeremy Lewis Hall, 40, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.
VADOC says Russell was serving an 11-year, 11-month sentence. He was sentenced to 15 years with 8 years and 1 month suspended for a carjacking in Fairfax County Circuit Court, 3 years for use of a firearm in commission of a felony offense in Fairfax County Circuit Court, and 4 years and 8 months with 2 years and 8 months suspended for a shoplifting offense in Albemarle County Circuit Court.
Two additional Officers were treated at a hospital following the attack.
