Freedom Mobile will launch its own Manitoba wireless network in 2026, part of Quebecor Inc.’s latest push to expand its national footprint and increase competition in Canada’s telecommunications market.

Quebecor president and CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau announced the move during a visit to Winnipeg for the Grey Cup final, where he met with Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew to discuss new initiatives in the province. Péladeau, who also owns the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes, said the company is preparing to begin network construction in Winnipeg next year.

The project will start with new infrastructure in key areas of the city before expanding across Manitoba. Quebecor has already invested more than $35 million in wireless spectrum in the province.
