VAN BUREN -- Police are investigating a homicide after an Oklahoma man's body was found Friday evening on the north bank of the Arkansas River in Van Buren.

Derek Marshall, 30, of Muskogee, Okla., was identified as the deceased person in a Tuesday morning public statement by the Van Buren Police Department.

Police were called about 5 p.m. Friday to the south end of Lee Creek Drive at the Arkansas River for a report of a body discovered there, according to the department.

Authorities said Tuesday his death is considered a homicide.
