ROCKFORD, Ill. — The local community is mourning the loss of a local leader.

It was announced on Facebook on Monday that Mustafa Abdall, former President of the Greater Rockford Arab Chamber of Commerce, had died.

Abdall was a kind man who was active in the Arab community and whose spirit touched everyone in the Rockford area, according to Azam Aldulaimi .

Sameena Zahurullah, a chairperson of the Rockford Muslim PAC, said she had "no words" to describe what the loss of Abdall meant to her and to Rockford.

"There are no words to describe the loss of Mustafa Abdall and what it means to the Rockford community," wrote Zahurullah. "I am heartbroken."

Congressman Eric Sorensen (D-17) paid tribute to Abdall , saying he made Rockford a "better place".
