SAN MARCOS, Texas — All animals who were at risk of euthanasia at the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter have since been rescued.
In an update from the shelter on Tuesday, the animals are no longer facing possible euthanasia, including three dogs who were at a serious risk if they were not fostered or adopted by Nov. 18.
"While the shelter is still over capacity, we are sitting much better," shelter community engagement coordinator Minne Buckhaults said in a statement. "We have 115 dogs at the shelter with 25 dogs in foster care. We are expecting to take several of those foster dogs back as fosters are traveling for the holidays."
Last week, the shelter asked for help amid overcrowding as capacity dwindled.
