El Paso has declared Nov. 18 Eddie Guerrero Day in honor of the acclaimed professional wrestler.
City Rep. Deanna Maldonado-Rocha read a proclamation during the El Paso City Council meeting Tuesday, Nov. 18, recognizing Guerrero, who hailed from El Paso and went on to become one of the biggest names in wrestling, as "one of El Paso's greatest sons."
Maldonado-Rocha called the wrestling icon "a legend whose passion, pride and unmistakable spirit carried the name of this city onto a global stage."
"Eddie didn't just perform for millions, he represented us," she said. "He showed the world the heart of El Paso, the resilience, being humble, fiercely loyal and full of fun and fire."
