Iowa State football tight end Gabe Burkle will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, head coach Matt Campbell announced on Tuesday, Nov. 18, ahead of the team's game against Kansas.

The 6-foot-6 junior and Cedar Rapids native went down with an apparent leg injury during the second quarter of the Cyclones' 20-17 win over TCU on Nov. 8.

Burkle caught a pass for an 8-yard gain and was taken down by TCU defenders. He remained down after the play and was taken into the locker room following examination by athletic trainers. He did not return to the game.

"Unfortunately, Gabe will be out for the year," Campbell said. "He'll have surgery tomorrow (Nov. 19)."
