Some teams like Bo Bichette as a shortstop. Others envision him elsewhere. Either way, he appears to have a long list of suitors in free agency.
Much of that interest stems from Bichette’s bat and relatively young age. After struggling during an injury-plagued 2024 season, Bichette bounced back in a big way, hitting .311 with 18 homers, 94 RBIs and an .840 OPS for the Blue Jays. He’ll enter 2026 -- his age-28 campaign -- with a lifetime .294/.337/.469 slash and a 121 OPS+.
There are some concerns about Bichette’s defense after he tied for last in MLB with -13 Outs Above Average in 2025, but that doesn’t seem to be scaring off shortstop-needy teams, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan . The Braves and Tigers are among the contenders with a glaring hole at short.
