A pedestrian died in a traffic collision early Tuesday morning in Fairfield that is suspected to be caused by a motorist driving under the influence, police said.
According to the Fairfield Police Department, the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle around 1:30 a.m. on the westbound lane of Travis Boulevard over Interstate Highway 80, near the off-ramp from the freeway.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire crews and police officers.
Travis Boulevard and the eastbound freeway off-ramp were shut down for several hours following the collision, but they have since reopened.
The driver, identified as Kyle Dolcee, a 35-year-old Fairfield resident, remained on scene and was arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI, police said in a statement at 7:50 a.m.
