The MLB Winter Meetings are around the corner, and Tuesday is another important day for shaping 40-man rosters ahead of the Orlando event — including for the Boston Red Sox.
Thirteen players are expected to announce on Tuesday whether they will accept the qualifying offer they received earlier this month. Most, if not all, are expected to decline. The Red Sox did not extend a QO to any of their players.
Boston’s front office has freed up several roster spots to reinstate eight players from the 60-day IL. Since the end of the season, Alex Bregman, Rob Refsnyder, Justin Wilson, Steven Matz, Liam Hendriks, Dustin May, and Lucas Giolito have elected free agency. José De León, Luis Guerrero, and Isaiah Campbell were outrighted to Triple-A Worcester.
