The Boston Red Sox made their first offseason trade with the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.

Dominican-born pitcher Luis Guerrero was traded to the Rays for Tristan Gray, the team announced. The right-hander was designated for assignment on November 6 and then outrighted to Triple-A Worcester a week later.

Guerrero had a rollercoaster season in 2025. He allowed the first earned run of his career after 14 scoreless innings, but then gave up 8 runs in 13.1 innings, allowing 14 walks and 8 hits during that span. He later suffered an injury and finished the season on the IL.

Tristan Gray played only 30 games this season with the Tampa Bay Rays. He slashed .231/.282/.410 with 3 homers, 9 RBIs, and five doubles.

He spent most of the 2025 season at Triple-A Durham, where he slashed .270/.333/.472
