President Trump on Tuesday rolled out the red carpet for Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman despite his being blamed for ordering the murder and dismemberment of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Trump pulled out all the bells and whistles with military bands, ceremonial flyovers and two meals for the Saudi prince’s first visit to the White House since the controversial 2018 assassination of Khashoggi that American intelligence says he likely ordered.
Trump derided a reporter who asked the prince about Khashoggi’s brutal murder , which took place inside the Saudi consulate in Turkey, calling her a “terrible person” who should have been more polite to an honored guest.
“Things happen but he knew nothing about it,” Trump said, without offering any evidence.
