SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell met with former residents of Springfield Gardens on Tuesday to discuss preventing other renters from facing unsafe conditions that led to a multi-million dollar settlement.

Campbell held the roundtable at her Springfield office with former residents, community partners, and local officials. The meeting came two months after a $10 million settlement was reached between the attorney general’s office and Schweb Partners LLC, which owned Springfield Gardens properties from 2020 to 2024. The attorney general’s office said Schweb ignored tenant complaints about mold, collapsed ceilings, water leaks, and no heat or hot water.
