The Congress has issued show-cause notices to 43 Bihar leaders for anti-party activities. Prominent among those who were issued the notice include former minister Veena Shahi, AICC member Madhurendra Kumar Singh, and former MLC Ajay Kumar Singh.
President of the party’s state disciplinary committee, Kapil Dev Prasad Yadav, said: “All the leaders are directed to submit a written clarification before the committee by noon on November 21. If the reply is not received within stipulated time, the committee will be constrained to take strict action, including expulsion from the primary membership of the party for six years.”
With only six MLAs, this is Congress’s worst show in last four polls. In 2010, it had eight MLAs, 27 in 2015, and the number fell to 19 in 2020.
