MADISON (WKOW) -- The Homeless Services Consortium of Dane County held an event Tuesday aimed at showing the human side of homelessness.

According to the Wisconsin Policy Forum, over 600 people in Dane County experienced homelessness in 2023.

Homelessness touches individuals, families and communities. Event leaders said it's important to get involved.

"All of our schools have a homeless liaison in it that really supports children and families in our schools, and that you can reach out to your local school and ask who's the homeless liaison, and see what you can do to help that way," said Jani Koester, transition education program coordinator at Madison Metropolitan School District.
