Billionaire philanthropist Mackenzie Scott on Tuesday gave a historic $38 million to Xavier University , the largest private donation in the New Orleans-area Catholic school’s history.

With the new gift, Scott has now donated over $219.7 million to nearly 50 organizations across Louisiana.

Scott, who co-founded Amazon with her ex-husband Jeff Bezos, has spent the last several years giving away her fortune, donating more than $19 billion. Her contribution to Xavier, the only historically Black and Catholic university in the country, is the latest in a series of donations she’s made in recent weeks to historically Black colleges around the U.S.
