A Vernon man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for convincing minors to send him explicit videos and images over Snapchat, sometimes in exchange for money.

Daryl Todd, 45, received the prison term, which will be followed by five years of supervised release, during a sentencing hearing on Nov. 5, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut said in a statement Tuesday.

In April, Todd accepted a plea deal that required him to plead guilty to receipt of child pornography.

According to federal officials, an investigation conducted by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force found that Todd used Snapchat to communicate with underage girls and entice them to send him explicit images and videos of themselves. At times, he would give them money in exchange for the conte
