A Maryland man may be going away for life for his role in a Lexington Park shooting that left a victim riddled with gunshot wounds.
Mark Albert Fenwick Jr., 33, of Annapolis, was sentenced to life in prison with 40 years of active incarceration for his part in the 2024 attack, the St. Mary's County State's Attorney announced.
A jury found Fenwick guilty of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, and theft after a multi-day trial that wrapped in May 2024.
Deputies found the victim shot multiple times in the 22000 block of Valley Estates Drive on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at about 8:15 p.m., the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office said.
First responders applied treatment to the man before the victim was airlifted to a regional hospital.
Detectives arrested Fenwick the next day in Prince Frederick with help from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, officials said. Two suspects were taken into custody, and a third remained at large at the time.
“Although this Defendant was not the shooter, he contributed to a brutal and senseless attack that left a victim gravely injured,” State's Attorney Jaymi Sterling said.
“This sentence ensures accountability and reflects our commitment to justice by prosecuting all violent offenders who participate in endangering our community.”
