Police are investigating after an elderly man died in a single-vehicle crash in central Edmonton on Monday night.
Just before 9:40 p.m., officers were called to 106 Avenue and 75 Street after a report of a single-vehicle crash, said police in a Tuesday release.
Investigators determined that a 78-year-old man driving eastbound on 106 Avenue lost control of his 2021 Volkswagon Tiguan and swerved across westbound lanes, hitting a curb before striking a traffic light near 75 Street.
Police said witnesses attempted to provide first-aid to the driver before emergency crews responded and transported the man to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died in hospital.
Investigators believe the man may have experienced medical distress prior to the collision, and no other injuries were repo
