BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — A late-night police chase returned to the spotlight this week after a state appeals court ruled that a jury should decide whether the pursuit went too far.

The chase tore through residential and commercial streets in northern Westchester, sending cars spinning, pedestrians scrambling and a Briarcliff Manor officer to the hospital.

According to deposition testimony recounted in the court record, Ossining Police Officer Juan Encarnacion chased a fleeing driver, Nathaniel Hester, at high speeds along Route 9 and surrounding neighborhoods in October 2016.

Hester hit another vehicle and came close to striking pedestrians before crashing into the rear of Briarcliff Manor Officer Nicole Corsi’s marked cruiser.
