A Montreal organized crime figure has been arrested on behalf of the FBI in connection with the assassination of a key witness in the case against ex-Olympian and fugitive Ryan Wedding , La Presse is reporting.

Co-operating FBI witness Jonathan Acebedo-Garcia, 42, was shot dead in broad daylight in Medellin, Colombia, on Jan. 31. As first reported by the Star , Montreal native Acebedo-Garcia had been set to be the key witness in a sprawling FBI prosecution against Wedding’s alleged drug trafficking organization ; the case included secretly monitored meetings with Wedding, his right-hand man and other co-conspirators, in Mexico, Canada and Dubai.
