Tala Teofilo has almost no memory of what happened to him during his touch footy match on Wednesday, November 12.
The 10-year-old from Yass had just scored a full-length try and was celebrating with his teammates when he suddenly dropped to the ground. The first thought was that he was having an asthma attack - until someone realised he wasn't breathing.
The young boy was dead.
A family member leapt into action, giving Tala CPR while first aiders ran for the defibrillator at the Walker Park clubhouse. Two off-duty nurses and an off-duty paramedic helped set it up while they waited for the ambulance to arrive.
For an excruciating five minutes, Tala was gone.
