A medical call in northeast Bradley County escalated into an armed mental health crisis Monday, prompting a multi-agency response, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) says.

Paramedics and firefighters were forced to leave a home after John David Possien, 47, became combative. Deputies and Cleveland Police searched the area before the man returned to his residence near Urbane Road.

A BCSO drone delivered a phone so crisis negotiators could communicate with him, while Cleveland Police provided additional drone support. Officials say Possien fired at the drones during the standoff, but later surrendered without further incident. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Possien faces the following charges:

Vandalism Over $1,000
