Jane Fonda says 2025 has been one of the most difficult years of her life as she mourned the deaths of three close friends and Hollywood icons: Robert Redford, Diane Keaton and Gene Hackman.

The 87-year-old actress reflected on her grief during a recent appearance at the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential’s 30th Anniversary EmPower Party, an organization she founded to support youth health initiatives.

Fonda says Redford’s death left her in tears

Fonda, who starred with Redford in the 1967 comedy “Barefoot in the Park,” recalled their decades-long friendship and the impact of his death in September.

The iconic actor died Sept. 16. His publicist said he died in his sleep.

He starred and directed in a variety of memorable movies through multiple decades.
