LEBANON, N.H.. (WCAX) - Owners of a newly-opened Italian market in Lebanon, New Hampshire, are weathering the impact of tariffs and the threats of new ones.
Pellegrino’s Italian Market is located just off the green in downtown Lebanon. Along with a full deli and produce section, the business also sells a wide range of imported products from Italy, including oils and pastas.
As reported last week, the Trump administration threatened a 92% tariff on Italian pasta. That’s on top of the current 15% tax on goods coming from Europe.
“My importer, I grew up with. He takes in 25 containers from Italy every week. And right now, he has been absorbing the tariffs so it hasn’t really affected my price much -- just a little bit -- but we lowered our margin,” said owner Joey Pellegrino.
